8The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9Moses said to Joshua, Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands. 10So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up-one on one side, one on the other-so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. 14Then the Lord said to Moses, Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.

16He said, Because hands were lifted up against Or [to] the throne of the Lord, The meaning of the Hebrew for this clause is uncertain. the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.

7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

19Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

8Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.

16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

11Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man. I was cupbearer to the king.

7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
